Line Mechanic Distribution

The ESITO line mechanic distribution qualifications will enable you to gain registration as a line mechanic in the distribution lines sector. The pathway consists of three qualifications, at Level 2, 3, and 4. Registration is gained with the completion of the Level 4 qualification.

Qualification  Level  Description 
National Certificate in Electricity Supply  This is an entry level qualification for people with limited direct work experience already employed in the electricity supply industry. It is also intended for school leavers entering the industry.  

The qualification covers generic workplace skills such as communication and safety and a selection of electricity supply skills directly related to the industry. As a trainee line mechanic, you would complete the core compulsory unit standards and the line mechanic strand.
National Certificate in Electricity Supply Line Mechanic Distribution 3 The Level 3 qualification is the second part of a progressive career path.

The certificate builds on the Level 2 qualification and introduces more advanced line mechanic skills and electrical knowledge.
National Certificate in Electricity Supply Line Mechanic Distribution 4 The Level 4 qualification is the final part of this career path. When you have completed this qualification, you can apply for line mechanic registration with a distribution limitation with the Electrical Workers’ Registration Board.
National Certificate in Electricity Supply Line Mechanic Distribution Live Work 5 The Level 5 qualification is an advanced certificate for experienced line mechanics.  It covers live work using stick and glove and barrier techniques in the distribution sector of the industry.
