A range of qualifications (listed below) is available through ESITO. They can be divided into those that form an industry recognised career pathway and those that are considered to be more “stand alone”. The career pathway page provided tells you about the selected pathway and how each qualification contributes to it. From this page, you can explore the qualifications that make up the career pathway.
Here are the other qualifications available through ESITO: Electrical Services Technician Field Switcher Hydro Operator Mechanical Engineering Metering Technician National Diploma in Electricity Supply Level 5 National Diploma in Electricity Supply Level 6 Power Technician Retail Sub station Maintainer Thermal Operator Introductory Limited Credit Programme Non Load Bearing Limited Credit Programme National Certificate in Project Management (Level 4) National Certificate in Project Management (Level 5) These qualifications are considered to be “stand alone”. Most “stand alone” qualifications are not part of such a distinct pathway as those listed above, but you may need to have completed other related qualifications beforehand.
For example, while the metering technician qualification stands alone, you can take it only after gaining electrical qualifications.
Each qualification page tells you about the content of the qualification, lists all of the unit standards in the qualification and describes some of the tasks you will be able to undertake once you attain it.

ESITO qualification table ESITO is the standard setting body (SSB) for the qualifications listed above. This means we are responsible for them.
You can also complete some other qualifications through ESITO. These qualifications have been developed by other Industry Training Organisations or NZQA standard setting bodies. ESITO offers these qualifications because they are relevant to the Electricity Supply Industry.
