Is workplace diversity working for your business?
Is your business missing out on potential employees or failing to retain key people?
Could you understand your customers better or access new markets?
Is your business experiencing a skills gap which could be filled by people you don't usually target for recruitment?
Are you adapting to the changing workforce demographics?
If YES - Think about how best to manage and support these diverse groups to make the most of their unique talents and skills for the best business outcomes.
If NO - Think about the talent pool, unique skills and market opportunities your company is missing out on.
ESITO has commissioned research and initiatives regarding workplace diversity in 2009 and now put together case studies and resources to provide managers, supervisors and team leaders with support for improving business practices, particularly around the recruitment and retention of women and skilled migrants, as well as for other diverse groups within the workplace. Check out how to get started.

National Diplomas for Power Technicians and Engineers (NDE)
There are currently 104 people enrolled in these two qualifications. Given that technicians are the largest skills shortage in the power industry, this is encouraging.
Around half the management and leadership of the industry come from this group and to provide successors, we will need at least this number for many years. Attached are the companies that have people enrolled in these qualifications. ABB has made the largest commitment.
NDE is changing. From next year, it will be called the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) and the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Practice (NZDEP). These align with the civil mechanical and electrical disciplines nationally. Refer here for more details.
