Consultation on the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE)

 

All companies in the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) interested in the development of technicians are encouraged to attend the following consultation meetings.

 

Consultation on the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) and New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Practice (NZDEP) is to occur in two parts. Both of these qualifications are intended to replace the current National Diploma in Engineering (Electrotechnology) (NDE) (level 6).

 

Starting from 12 May 2010, links regarding the structure of the NZDE, its course description and the proposed external moderation system will be on the National Engineering Education Plan (NEEP) website. http://www.ipenz.org.nz/ipenz/Education_Career/NEEP.cfm

 

You are invited to review these documents and send in your submission to Sharon Wagg, at sharon@ipenz.org.nz by 5pm Friday, 18 June.

 

The structure, detailed requirements and external moderation system for the NZDEP will be consulted on at a later date.

 

You are also invited to attend one of the following meetings hosted by Andrew Cleland (CEO, The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ), Bill Sole (Competenz) and John Findlay (Otago Polytechnic). They are members of the NEEP Project Governing Group to discuss about the proposed governance structure for the diplomas, transition arrangements from current diplomas, and the structure and content of the NZDE. They will inform you of developments in the NZDEP.
