The Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO) sets national standards and qualifications for the industry, and develops learning resources. We also:

• Make arrangements for training delivery
• Maintain a database of trainees and their learning records
• Arrange quality assurance of training providers, industry trainers and assessors
• Provide leadership on skills and learning issues
• Coordinate the Modern Apprenticeship Programme
• Promote the Electricity Supply Industry as a career choice
• Develop the industry’s skills strategy.

Like all publicly funded tertiary education organisations, we operate according to a Charter developed in consultation with our stakeholders and approved by the Minister of Tertiary Education.

ESITO's Charter came into effect on 1 January 2004, was renewed in 2005 and will expire on 16 October 2010.
